Bizeli Yaxni with chicken drumsticks with braised peas

An inexpensive way to feed a family that is nutritious and absolutely delicious. Using inexpensive cuts of protein like chicken legs helps reduce costs and gives the dish so much flavour. Frozen vegetables are also a great way to budget. The vegetables are picked at their peak and frozen.

Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons light olive oil
- 6 chicken drumsticks
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 6 cloves garlic
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 chicken bouillon cube or 1 tablespoon bouillon paste
- 1 cup crushed tomatoes
- 2 cup water
- 1 bay leaf
- 5 cup frozen peas
Directions
- Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. Season chicken with salt and pepper and cook until browned on all sides, about six to seven minutes. Remove from pan and set aside.
- Reduce heat to medium and add onions and garlic. Sauté for three to four minutes until soft and translucent.
- Stir in cumin and tomato paste and sauté for one minute. Add in bouillon and stir while breaking it down.
- Add in tomatoes, water, and bay leaf, and bring to a boil.
- Add in chicken and peas ad reduce to a simmer. Cook for 30 to 35 minutes until slightly thickened. Season with additional salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve with bread to mop up the sauces. Enjoy!
