Ingredients
- 1 sheet store bought puff pastry, thawed
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 3/4 cup almond flour
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- Pinch freshly grated nutmeg, optional
- 2 pears, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 tablespoons sliced almonds
Directions
- Arrange your oven rack to the lowest position and heat it to 400ºF. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
- Unroll the puff pastry and cut it into six equal rectangles. Place the pastry onto the prepared sheet pan, leaving a few inches between each, and set aside.
- In a medium bowl, beat together the butter and brown sugar. Beat in the egg, vanilla, and almond extract until well combined. Add almond flour, all-purpose flour, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg, and stir well to combine. Divide this almond-filling mixture over the pastry and spread it into an even layer, leaving a small border around the edge.
- Fan out the pear slices and layer over the almond filling. Scatter the tops of each pastry with some sugar and scatter over the sliced almonds.
- Bake for 18 to 20 minutes or until lightly puffed and golden brown. Allow the tarts to cool slightly or completely before serving. Enjoy!
