Classic chocolate chip cookies

Ingredients

  • 3-1/2 cups AP flour
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1-1/4 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons coarse salt
  • 2-1/2 sticks (1-1/4 cups) unsalted butter
  • 1-1/4 cups light brown sugar
  • 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup bittersweet 70% chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
  • Coarse sea salt, for sprinkling over cookie

Directions

  1. Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt into a large bowl; set aside. 
  2. Using a mixer with a paddle , cream the butter and sugar together until soft and fluffy, three to four minutes.
  3. Add eggs, one at a time then the vanilla.
  4. Reduce to low, and add dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Fold in chocolate.
  6. Press plastic wrap against dough (or place dough in an airtight container) and refrigerate overnight.
  7. When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350F degrees. And scoop out dough in desired size about 120 grams each is best on a Lined baking sheet nonstick baking mat
  8. Sprinkle lightly with sea salt and bake until golden brown but still soft, about 20 minutes.
