Holiday linzer cookies


  • 1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 cup almond flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon lemon extract
  • 1 orange, zested
  • 3/4 cups powdered sugar, for dusting
  • Your choice of jams, for filling


  1. Cream the butter and the sugar together until light and soft, for about three minutes. Add the yolks one at a time, followed by the vanilla and orange zest. In a separate bowl, whisk together all of the dry ingredients, then add to the mixture. Combine, then chill the dough for at least 30 - 45 minutes.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Between two sheets of parchment paper, roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness. Cut out your desired holiday shapes and place on a lined baking tray. Cut a small circle out of the middle of half of the shapes (these will be the tops that show off the jam), then place in the oven for ten minutes.  Remove and allow to cool completely. 
  3. Dust the tops with powdered sugar. Then, dollop some jam on the bottom pieces and cover with the sugared tops.
