Ingredients
-
1 x 2.2-pound (1 kg) whole chicken
BBQ Sauce
-
1 cup (240 ml) ketchup
-
½ cup (120 ml) mustard
-
1 cup (240 ml) brown sugar
-
½ cup (120 ml) white vinegar
-
1 teaspoon (5 ml) onion powder
-
1 teaspoon (5 ml) garlic powder
-
1 teaspoon (5 ml) pepper
-
½ teaspoon (2.5 ml) salt
-
1 teaspoon (5 ml) crushed red pepper
-
½ teaspoon (2.5 ml) smoked paprika
Directions
- Preheat oven to 400F (205 C).
- To a small bowl, add ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, white vinegar, onion powder, garlic powder, pepper, salt, crushed red pepper, and smoked paprika and stir to combine. Pour half of the BBQ sauce into a serving dish and set aside.
- Cut chicken into 10 pieces: 2 wings, 2 thighs, 2 legs, and the 2 breasts, both cut in half. Toss chicken pieces with remaining BBQ sauce and place on a parchment paper-covered baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
- Remove chicken when skin is crispy and sticky, and the flesh is cooked through. Serve alongside extra BBQ Sauce.
