Cocktail: Princess Elena

  • 2 cups (500 ml) Amaro Montenegro liqueur
  • 4 cloves
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 cinnamon quill
  • 12 prunes, stones removed
  • Zest of 1 orange


  1. Place all ingredients in a small saucepan over high heat, cover with a lid and bring to just below a boil. Remove from heat, cover and set aside to infuse for two to three hours, longer if possible.
  2. Place saucepan back on low heat and warm the infused liquid. Divide the prunes, orange zest and spiced liqueur among small balloon glasses (or stemless wine glasses) to serve.
