The start of the fall season often signals a wardrobe refresh. If there's a trend you've been eyeing this season but need some tips, style expert Mana Mansour is here to help! She breaks down three different ways to rock the chunky boot, including high and low-end options.

Lug Sole Chelsea Table

A lugsole means the boot has a thick rubber sole with deep indentations in a pattern designed to provide good footing. Originally they were intended for worker boots but now they have made their way into the fashion world.

These boots also have a rubber cap toe, for both style and function.

Low-end version

These boots are vegan leather, which allows for the lower price point, but they don't sacrifice style. The olive green is also a great colour to look for.

Lace-Up Combat Boot

Combat boots are now a fall wardrobe staple but the update this season is wearing them in desert and camel tones. This is probably due to the fact soft neutral colours are still a trend that is going strong. These boots are also coming out in different materials like suede and canvas.

Bash lace-up combat boots

The women-led French line Bash is now open to Canadian shoppers online where you can find this boot. This boot is for the woman who is all about quality over quantity.

If you want to dip your toes in this trend, at a lower price point, these camel combat boots are a combination of stretch knit and leather. This shoe will hug your foot, almost like pulling up a thick sock.

Look 2

This look is perfect for those still working from home, needing an outfit that can transition from home to play if needed. Comfy knits and sweats are no longer a pandemic-only uniform. This wool sweater and cotton sweatpants offer great versatility, along with the coziness. Doing a neutral, monochromatic colour head-to-toe makes your sweats look more intentional and fashion forward.

Retro-Inspired Platforms

This trend is an amalgamation of what was big in the '70s and what came back in the '90s—think Spice Girls. The top designers are doing this chunky boot trend, but with current updates like a square toe. Another update to look for is the tight, almost sock-like, shaft of the boot, which provides a close-fit to the calf.
