It's all about the accessories!

New Year's Eve fashion typically means an overwhelming number of sequins, but you don't have to grab a shimmery, tight-fitting mini dress to ring in the New Year. Whether you're welcoming 2022 from the comfort of your couch or venturing out for a date night, style expert Peter Papapetrou shared his tips on how to add last-minute accessories and outwear you have at home that can elevate your outfit without feeling like a disco ball!

Make a statement

Who doesn't love being comfy yet chic? A great oversized knit and plaid trousers can be a go-to cozy outfit for running errands, but if you want to take this outfit to the next level, it's really all about those glamorous additions! Pairing the outfit with a statement piece like this beautiful burgundy hat from Ted Baker is a great way to add some sophistication with minimal effort. And with the chain detailing, you can stick to the gold accessories to create a more seamless look.  If you have a few fancier clutches, don't be afraid to pull one out and wear it with this kind of casual outfit. Go for something a bit darker in colour and that matches your outfit.

Tip: Push the sleeves of your comfy up towards your elbow. It changes the fit and shows off a little more skin.

Remain cozy and chic

We love creams and whites for winter, and a great way to elevate this all-white look is to add a little pop of colour. Adding this warm red wool beret automatically changes the outfit without overpowering it. Plus, instead of a winter scarf, try a silk scarf that matches the hat to pull everything together. Tuck your ultra-comfortable matching sweatsuit into a pair of high-heeled boots, and this outdoor outfit is the ultimate effortlessly cozy yet chic look!

Be monochromatic and sparkly

This is the outfit for those who live in black all winter long. If you just want to stay true to your style on New Year's Eve, you might be wondering how you can transform it without stepping too far out of your comfort zone? We say, add sparkle. Whatever that means to you—metallics, rhinestones, whatever you have in your wardrobe! By adding accessories like sparkly earrings and a purse or handbag, and you can change the whole look really easily.

Another great way to elevate this look is to change the way you wear certain pieces. Instead of wearing the blazer how you normally would, take it off and let it drape over your shoulders to give it more of a cape look. Roll up the bottom of your jeans to make it more of a trouser-fit and show off those sparkly high heel shoes!

Tip: Keeping the sparkle monochromatic from head to toe is going to make way more of a statement than trying to mix things up too much—so if all you have is gold, go with gold, same with silver, rose gold, etc.
