Cranberry, cinnamon, and nutmeg aren't just for holiday baking! Hair expert Aaron O'Bryan shares three DIY hair treatment recipes made from seasonal ingredients that you may already have in your own kitchen. Get in the holiday spirit while you get your hair holiday-ready!

Cranberry hair mask

Cranberries are a great source of making hair naturally strong and shiny. Cranberries are a rich source of water, phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. You can apply this mask twice a week to give your hair an extra shine.

Here's what you will need for this hair mask:

  • 1/2 cup cranberry juice
  • 1 cup mayonnaise

To make and apply:

  1. In a bowl, mix the mayonnaise and cranberry and mix to make a thick paste.
  2. Apply the mask evenly onto your damp hair, run into your scalp and comb through with a wide-tooth comb.
  3. Let it dry for 20 minutes.
  4. After it dries off, rinse with a hydrating shampoo and cold water.

Cinnamon dry shampoo

It's never good to overwash your hair because it strips it of its natural oils. Skip the drugstore dry shampoo, and use this homemade recipe. You can use it right away and it leaves you smelling of cinnamon and holiday vibes!

For this dry shampoo, you will need:

  • Half a cup of non-GMO corn starch
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

To make and apply:

  1. Simply mix the corn starch and cinnamon into a shaker.
  2. Use it a short distance away from your scalp, and apply by shaking it right on the roots, and massage it in with your fingertips. And say goodbye to all those oils!

Nutmeg hair scrub

Nutmeg is one of the ultimate holiday spices! Use this nutmeg hair scrub to revitalize and cleanse the scalp, and help promote healthier hair growth.

For the scrub, you will need:

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg

To make and apply:

  1. Mix all ingredients together in a bowl.
  2. When in the shower, place the scrub on wet hair and gently massage it into the scalp to help cleanse and stimulate blood flow.
  3. Rinse well with lukewarm, shampoo twice, and condition.
