THEME 1: CLASSIC HALLOWEEN

Tried-and-true, these classic Halloween costumes are guaranteed to be a success. They're adorable, too!

BAT:

Use a matching black sweat suit that has a hood.

To make the wings, take a large black umbrella and carefully remove the fabric from the wire frame. Lay umbrella fabric flat and cut into four equal wedges (you will only need two wedges). Hot glue the edge of one piece of the umbrella fabric to the back of one of the arms of the sweatshirt. Do the same on the opposite arm.

To make the ears cut two triangles out of cardboard. Cover the cardboard in black foam or construction paper. Hot glue to the top of the hood.

PUMPKIN:

Use an orange sweatshirt or long sleeve shirt.

To make the face, cut two triangles and a pumpkin mouth out of black felt. Hot glue each piece to the sweatshirt. Cut triangles out of green felt and hot glue around the collar.

To make the hat, use an orange beret. Cut a long thin strip out of green felt, then roll tightly to form a stem. Hot glue to hat. With the leftover felt, you can cut out leafs or a vine to glue to the hat as well!

SKELETON:

Use a matching black sweat suit.

To make the bones, look up a skeleton pattern online. Trace shapes onto white felt, cut them out, and then hot glue to body.

THEME 2: FRUIT SALAD

Scrambling for a last-minute costume idea? Look no further. Become a delicious fruit salad in no time with these easy DIY tips!

STRAWBERRY:

Use a red t-shirt dress.

To make the seeds, cut seed shapes out of white felt. Hot glue all over the dress.

To make the hat cut out 20-25 long leaf shapes out of green poster board in four different sizes. Hot glue leaves, starting with the largest first, around a chip can. To make leaves curl, run the pieces of paper through your fingers. Attach ribbon or elastic to the chip can to secure the hat to your head. Look! You're a strawberry now.

PINEAPPLE

Use a yellow t-shirt.

To make the shirt design, use a black fabric or permanent marker to draw inverted V shapes all over the body.

To make the hat, cut out 20-25 long leaf shapes out of green poster board in four different sizes. Hot glue leaves, starting with the largest first, around a toilet paper roll. To make leaves curl run the pieces through your fingers. Attach ribbon or elastic to chip can to secure hat to head.

THEME 3: UNDER THE SEA

This Halloween, take a trip under the ocean with these adorable costumes! The whole family will be ready for that cute Instagram shot in no time.

RAINBOW FISH:

Use a matching sweat suit in a bright colour and coordinating toque.

To make the fish scales, use colourful cupcake liners! Flatten each liner between books or with your hands, then hot glue cupcake liners in rows across the body of the sweat shirt. Start from the bottom making sure to overlap liners to look like scales.

To make the eyes, fold four cupcake liners that match your hat colour in half. Hot glue googly eye to one folded liner, then add a second folded liner to make fins. Repeat for second eye.

TIP: If your liners won’t lay flat, you can cut a small slit in them to help. Just make sure to cover the slit with other cupcake lines.

SHARK:

Use a matching grey sweat suit that has a hood.

To make the belly, cut a piece of white felt and hot glue it to the front of the sweat shirt.

To make the teeth, cut two stripes of white felt that will fit around the inside of the hood. Cut triangles into one edge of the felt to make teeth shapes. Hot glue on the inside of the hood.

To make the eyes, cut circles out of white felt and hot glue large black buttons to them. Hot glue to the side of the hood.

Finally, to make the fin, cut a fin shape out of thick cardboard. Cover in grey felt or construction paper. Hot glue to back of shirt!

JELLYFISH:

Use a large clear umbrella.

Cut strips of iridescent wired ribbon in varying lengths. Hot glue around the inside edge of the umbrella, being careful to not melt the plastic. Using your fingers, shape the ribbon into curls.

Glue two googly eyes to the umbrella to make a face. Voila! Your homemade jellyfish awaits.
