It's one more month until Halloween, so if you plan on making costumes from scratch this year, you better get started! Craft expert Denise Wild dropped by to show us some DIY costume ideas that you can tackle over the next month.

Flamingo

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Pink wig
  • 6 pink boas
  • Dory costume (or another bulbous costume that hangs over the shoulders with straps)
  • Pink nylon webbing
  • Pink sweater
  • Pink pants
  • Large pink spa socks
  • Pink half-mask
  • Light pink adhesive glitter paper
  • Black adhesive glitter paper
  • Hot glue gun
  • Scissors

WHAT YOU DO:

  1. Replace the Dory costume straps with pink nylon webbing.
  2. Cover the Dory costume with all 6 pink boas, weaving the boas up and down around the entire costume and gluing them in place.
  3. Create an elongated nose on the pink half-mask by shaping light pink glitter paper and black glitter paper over the front edge of the mask.
  4. Put the Dory costume over the pink sweater and pink pants, and slip the pink spa socks over existing shoes or boots.
  5. Finish the look with the wig and mask!

Panda

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Black zip-up hooded sweater
  • Black gloves
  • Black pants
  • Large black spa socks
  • White faux fur
  • White stuffing
  • Hot glue gun
  • Scissors

WHAT YOU DO:

  1. Hot-glue white faux fur over the black hooded sweater, avoiding the arms. Leaving excess faux fur around the tummy. Fill the costume tummy with stuffing before gluing it closed and trimming down the excess fabric.
  2. Put the panda sweater and black pants on, and slip the black spa socks over existing shoes or boots.

Pineapple

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Yellow zip-up sweater
  • Yellow pants
  • Large yellow spa socks
  • Yellow felt
  • Plastic bucket
  • Green cardstock
  • Elastic
  • Hot glue gun
  • Scissors

WHAT YOU DO:

  1. Cut 1/3 of the yellow felt into large vest shapes (two front bodices and one back bodice).
  2. Cut the rest of the yellow felt into teardrop shapes. (You might need 40 to 60, depending on the costume size.)
  3. Cut the green cardstock into spear shapes. (You might need 20 to 30, depending on the size of the bucket.)
  4. Hot-glue the green spears onto the bucket with the pointed ends pointing away from the bucket opening.
  5. Glue the elastic (to be used as a neck strap) onto the bucket.
  6. Glue the yellow teardrop felt shapes onto the yellow vest pieces, curving the base of the teardrops so the pointed ends stick up/out.
  7. Glue the vest pieces over the yellow zip-up sweater, leaving the tummy edges unglued. Fill the costume tummy with stuffing before gluing it closed and trimming down the excess fabric.
  8. Put the pineapple sweater and yellow pants on, and slip the yellow spa socks over existing shoes or boots.
  9. Finish the look with the green hat!

Raincloud

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Black pants
  • Rain boots
