Ingredients
1 recipe Classic Stove Top Mac & Cheese
1 tablespoon butter, room temperature
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/4 teaspoon dry Italian seasoning
2 thick slices crusty bread
1 egg
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup grated cheese
Directions
Prepare the Classic Stove Top Mac & Cheese as directed. If desired, switch up the grated cheese and stir in any mix-ins you’d like! Some of my family favourites are gruyere and ham, mozzarella and Parmigiano with sundried tomatoes, pesto, spinach, and white cheddar with bacon bits.
Heat your oven to 425ºF and lightly grease a nine-inch casserole dish with non-stick cooking spray or butter. Transfer the prepared mac & cheese to the plate and set aside.
In a medium bowl, mix the butter, garlic, and dry Italian seasoning. Spread the butter over the bread and cut or rip into small cubes. In the same bowl, beat the egg and milk together. Add the bread into the egg mixture along with the grated cheese and toss to combine and evenly coat.
Transfer the bread mixture onto the dish of mac & cheese and bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until bubbling and golden. Enjoy!
