Smiling sesame balls

When you fry this cookie dough, it burst open and looks like a smiley face. These are eaten throughout all of China and are known as a popular Lunar snack with elders and kids loving it.

Ingredients
- 20 oz all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup sugar
- 10 tablespoons water
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup black and white sesame seeds
- Oil, for frying
Directions
- Sift flour, baking soda, and powder all into one big mixing bowl. add sugar and water and stir until dissolved.
- Add flour and egg and knead into a smooth dough.
- Pinch out 20 balls from the dough and roll them into small perfect balls.
- Place sesame seeds in a flat pan, and set aside. moisten balls with water, and roll each in sesame seeds to cover generously.
- In a medium or large pot, prepare four to five cups worth of oil for deep frying.
- Heat the oil to 325° F, and gently place two to three balls at a time in hot oil. Deep-fry until golden brown, remove from oil with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Repeat with remaining dough, and serve. Enjoy!
