Ingredients
Bacon Jam
1 lb bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 small onion, finely diced
2 cloves minced garlic
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup your favorite BBQ sauce
Ramen Buns
2 packages ramen, discard seasoning packets
2 eggs, beaten
Salt and pepper, to taste
Burgers
1 lb. ground chuck (80/20 blend)
Salt and pepper, to taste
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, per burger patty
4 slices mozzarella cheese
Lettuce, for serving
Tomato slices, for serving
Sriracha mayonnaise, for topping
Directions
Bacon Jam
Add the bacon in a large skillet over medium-high heat and cook for about 10 minutes until the fat is rendered and the bacon is brown, stirring frequently. Remove the bacon from the skillet and place on paper towels to drain.
Remove all but one tablespoon of bacon grease from the skillet. Reduce the heat to medium-low, add the onion and garlic, and cook for five to seven minutes until the onions are soft and translucent, stirring occasionally. Add the bacon, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, maple syrup, and BBQ sauce. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 20 minutes. Remove from the heat and set aside until ready to use.
Ramen Buns
Bring a large pot to a boil and cook the ramen according to the instructions. Drain and rinse the noodles with cold water.
In a large bowl, combine the noodles with eggs until evenly coated. Season with salt and pepper.
Burgers
Preheat an oiled outdoor griddle or skillet over medium heat.
Place the rings of 4 mason jar lids on the grill. Fill each round with the noodle mixture and press down with tongs to make the noodles more compact. Cook for four to five minutes per side until golden brown.
Using your hands or a burger press, form the ground beef into four equal patties, about three-quarter-inch thick. Season the patties with salt, pepper, and garlic powder on both sides. Place the burgers on the grill and cook for four minutes per side until an internal temperature of 145ºF for medium rare or your preferred doneness. Top each patty with a slice of mozzarella cheese and allow the cheese to melt for about two to three minutes.
Assemble the burgers by topping the ramen bun with lettuce, tomato slices, burger patty, and bacon jam. Drizzle with Sriracha mayonnaise and top with the remaining ramen bun. Enjoy!
