Sweet or savoury labneh toast

Labneh is a thick, strained yogurt with a beautiful spreadable consistency suitable for various dishes. This recipe is entirely up to you, depending on your craving! Labneh toast is delicious in both sweet and savoury form. We’re giving you one option for each, but feel free to get creative with anything in your pantry—we love using smoked salmon, za’atar, pomegranate molasses, fresh fruit, and even granola on our labneh toasts.

Ingredients

Savoury Toast

  • 1 slice any bread, including bagels and English muffins, toasted
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons labneh
  • 1/4 cup (40 g) cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
  • Flaky sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • Sumac, for garnish (optional)

Sweet Toast

  • 1 slice any bread, including bagels and English muffins, toasted
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons labneh
  • 1 to 2 teaspoon any fruit jam/ preserves
  • Flaky sea salt

Directions

Savoury Toast

  1. Place the warm toasted bread on a serving plate and spoon the labneh. Spread the labneh with the back of a spoon until the bread is evenly covered with a thick layer. Place the cherry tomatoes on top and sprinkle the parsley over the toast. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and a dusting of sumac, if desired. Enjoy!

Sweet Toast

  1. Place the warm toasted bread on a serving plate and spoon the labneh. Spread the labneh with the back of a spoon until the bread is evenly covered with a thick layer. Using a clean spoon, pour fruit jam on top and lightly spread it with the back of a spoon so the jam layer is covering the labneh. Sprinkle lightly with salt to make the sweet and savoury flavours pop. Enjoy!
