Ingredients
1 3/4 cup all purpose flour
1 tablespoon sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
¼ cup cold unsalted butter cut into cubes
1 cup grated apple
1 cup grated gouda
2 tablespoons thinly sliced green onions
3/4 cup buttermilk
Directions
Preheat oven to 425 degrees, and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Add butter, and use the tips of your finger tips, to cut it into the flour. The mixture should look crumbly, with some larger pea-sized pieces of butter.
Add in apple, cheese, and green onions, and stir to distribute. Lastly, add the buttermilk, and mix gently until the dough comes together.
Using a 1/4 cup measuring cup, scoop mounds of dough onto lined baking tray, four centimeters apart. Bake for 14-15 minutes until golden.
Serve warm out of the oven with butter on the side.
