Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped sage
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into pats
  • 1 cup grated white cheddar cheese
  • 1-1/4 cup buttermilk

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425ºF and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, garlic powder, and salt. Add in the cold butter pats and snap and rub it in like you would for pie dough until the butter is about the size of peas. Stir in the sage and cheddar cheese then make a well in the centre and add in the buttermilk. Stir just until combined.
  3. Using a large tablespoon or a 1/4 cup (2oz) ice cream scoop, scoop nine biscuits onto your prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake the biscuits for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly or fully before serving with butter.
