Deconstructed baked apples and honey with oat crumble

Ingredients

Apples:

  • 6 apples, halved
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Topping:

  • 1 cup quick oats
  • 3 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 6 tablespoons margarine, melted or 1/2 cup of melted coconut oil or olive oil
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon honey

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F degrees.
  2. Cut apples in half, remove core and seeds with a small paring knife or spoon.
  3. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Place apples on baking sheet. In a bowl, mix together brown sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice. Brush mixture over top of the apples.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, mix together all of the topping ingredients. Add the topping mixture on top of each apple. Bake for 30-35 minutes.
  5. Remove from oven and top with honey.
  6. Serve and enjoy!
