Fairmont Chateau Laurier scones
Ingredients
- 1-3/4 cups flour
- 4 teaspoons double action baking powder
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup soft butter
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup raisins
- Pinch of salt and pepper
Directions
- Preheat oven to 450 F.
- In a mixing bowl combine flour, baking powder, sugar and butter and mix well.
- Beat one egg and add milk, add this to the flour mix and knead it into dough.
- Add raisins and fold into dough.
- Roll the dough about one centimeter thick and cut the scones with a round cutter.
- Place them on a baking tray and let them rest for 30 - 40 minutes.
- Beat one egg and add a pinch of sugar and salt to form an egg wash.
- Brush egg wash on the scones and bake for approximately 10 - 12 minutes or golden brown.
- Serve with whipped unsalted butter and jam.
