Ingredients
1-3/4 cups flour
4 teaspoons double action baking powder
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup soft butter
2 eggs
3/4 cup milk
1/2 cup raisins
Pinch of salt and pepper
Directions
Preheat oven to 450 F.
In a mixing bowl combine flour, baking powder, sugar and butter and mix well.
Beat one egg and add milk, add this to the flour mix and knead it into dough.
Add raisins and fold into dough.
Roll the dough about one centimeter thick and cut the scones with a round cutter.
Place them on a baking tray and let them rest for 30 - 40 minutes.
Beat one egg and add a pinch of sugar and salt to form an egg wash.
Brush egg wash on the scones and bake for approximately 10 - 12 minutes or golden brown.
Serve with whipped unsalted butter and jam.
