Traditional bannock bread with pine cinnamon sugar
Ingredients
Bannock:
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1-1.5 cup of water
Sugar:
- 1/4 cup pine needles
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
Directions
- This is so simple to make.
- Place the pine, sugar and cinnamon in a blend and blend until it becomes a powder.
- Start by mixing the sugar, flour, baking powder, salt and then slowly add the water until a thick batter is formed. Kind of like a bread batter and pancake batter
- In a hot pan with oil, add the batter in spoonfuls and fry until golden brown then drain on paper towel.
- While the bread is still hot and draining, cover the bread in a fine dusting of pine sugar. Or enjoy with jam or butter!
