The holidays can be indulgent, but there's no need to be when it comes to food waste. Food costs are rising, so keeping food waste down is not only good for the environment, but also for our pockets.

Food stylist Irene Matys shared her favourite showstopping, zero-waste appetizers that are delicious and reduce food waste. So, save that stale bread, keep the peel on the vegetables, and get ready to whip these appetizers up in no time!

Butter bean and vegetable top pistou crudité board

Serve up a holiday appetizer—platter-style! Using the tops of fresh carrots, radishes, and celery make for beautiful decor for this holiday board. Pair this with a simple butter bean dip made with tahini, white beans and red wine vinegar.

Pomegranate gin fizz

This cocktail, made with pomegranate juice and gin is perfect for the holidays! The liquid from your beans also known as aquafaba is a great substitute for egg whites, which can make a vegan replacement for a cocktail topper. Here we're using it to top our delicious fizzy drink.
