Let’s face it, working out isn’t exactly something that everyone is thrilled to do. However, taking on a few exercises with a partner can make the idea of going into a gym less daunting! You could even start by incorporating partner-based exercises in the comfort of your own home. Having a friend or family member work out with you can help motivate you while also increasing your performance. You’re more likely to agree to do something if you have a pal to keep you company. Fitness and wellness expert Heather Wilson-Phillips and her husband Derwin Phillips showed us four exercises that you can try out with your significant other, friend, sibling or anyone you have in mind!

PARTNER LEG TOSS

For this exercise, start with one person lying on a mat and the other person standing. The one lying down should raise both their legs in the air while the person standing places their hands on the partner’s feet. The one standing will toss the partner’s legs down while the one lying on the mat will try to prevent their legs from touching the ground.

WHEELBARROW

This position is probably not new to you! The wheelbarrow exercise requires one person to get into a push up position while the other goes behind them, taking their legs into their hands. As the partner goes into a push up, the other person goes down into a squat. For the one doing squats, it’s important to ensure you have the proper position and avoid leaning too far forward.

PLANK HAND SLAPS

The plank hand slaps exercise is simple and easy to do anywhere! Both partners start in a plank and high-five each other’s hands using the alternating hand.

KNEE UP REVERSE LUNGES

While this exercise name might sound complicated, we can assure you that the actual motion is not! Face your partner and grab hold of one hand. Both of you need to raise your knees in the front, then bring them down behind you into a lunge.
