You don't have to buy all new furniture if you're looking to create a new grogeous space in your home. Instead, try mixing old and new design elements. Designer Andrew Pike not only has some amazing decor pieces to show off, but some important tips you should keep in mind during the process.

What to keep in mind

  • When blending styles and periods, find some common ground to unite them in colour, shape, form, etc.
  • Antique rugs are often much better quality than newer rugs, and can be an investment in a dying art.
  • Pair very ornate pieces with much simpler and cleaner pieces to balance them both out.
  • A richly coloured statement velvet sofa is very on trend for 2019.
  • Statement artwork is often a great place to start the design plan for a space.
  • Accessories are the perfect and easiest way to add some history and personality to any space.
