Tired of sacrificing style for warmth during winter? These Canadian brands have you covered

Because no one knows how to master cold-weather style like Canadian designers.

When we think of winter outfits, cute ensembles don't really come to mind. More likely, we imagine multiple sweaty layers, resulting in a Michelin Man-inspired look that's warm, sure, but not so stylish. Contrary to popular belief, dressing for chilly weather doesn't have to look frumpy! To prove it, style expert Corey NG is sharing four looks that are winter-ready, all of which are practical, cute and will definitely keep you warm this season!

Cozy and chic

This is a great daytime look for shopping or lunch with friends. Vests are ideal for the transitional period when it's cool, but not cold enough for a full jacket. This recycled-fill vest by NOIZE has a shorter cut, which is more flattering and less bulky. Corey suggests basing your layers on the temperature. Wear a simple cotton turtleneck long sleeve or add a thicker half-zip sweatshirt like this one from Province of Canada.

The slit in this knit skirt from RW&Co helps elevate the look. Pair it with these vegan and sustainably made boots from Thesus, which are waterproof and will keep your feet warm all day long!

Not-so-basic basics

This outfit is a perfect day-to-day look because it's so easy to put together and very cozy to wear. During the winter, your jacket becomes part of your day-to-day outfit, so this belted jacket from RW&Co is perfect to add to your wardrobe to give you shape and automatically makes you look put together when you throw it on. Layered with this Oak + Fort turtleneck sweatshirt, complete this look with straight-legged pants and chunky heel boots for the ultimate stylish winter outfit for any day!

Neutral, not boring

The maxi puffer is your answer to all your cold-weather woes. Neutral hues are everywhere this season and are a great alternative to your traditional black. Underneath, you can keep it fairly monochromatic, but add different textures and patterns to play around with the look. These plaid pants from Tristan are a thick, double-knit material, with a brushed finish on the inside for extra warmth.

If you're going for a crossbody bag, Corey suggests wearing it underneath your coat to avoid getting it damaged from snow and slush. Complete this cold-weather look with one of the trendiest boots of the season, the lug sole boot and get ready to feel the warmth!

Go for glam

You're all dressed up and ready to go out, but what coat should you wear? You want it to be warm, but you don't want to compromise your outfit. Corey recommends finding yourself something that you can easily incorporate as part of the final look, like this simple bomber jacket from Matt & Nat. Black is always versatile and the cropped length doesn't hide as much of your outfit, and it still keeps you warm. Layer it with this mock-neck top from Tristan and a vegan leather skirt. Add a flared heel to give you extra balance to this cozy, comfy outfit!
