Ingredients
For the Brown Butter Washed Vodka
- 2 cups vodka
- 5 tbsp unsalted butter
For the Brown Butter Espresso Martini
- 2 oz brown butter–washed vodka (see above)
- 1 oz freshly brewed espresso chilled
- ¾ oz coffee liqueur (Kahlúa or Mr. Black)
- ¼ oz simple syrup
- Pinch of flaky salt
Directions
For the Brown Butter Washed Vodka
- Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Swirl occasionally until it foams and turns golden with a nutty aroma.
- Remove immediately to avoid burning. Cool slightly.
- Combine: Pour vodka into a jar or container. Add warm brown butter and stir. Infuse:
- Let sit at room temp for 3 hours, swirling occasionally.
- Freeze:Transfer to freezer for 6 hours or overnight — the butter will solidify on top.
- Strain:Crack the fat cap and pour vodka through a coffee filter or fine sieve.
- Store in a bottle or jar in the fridge
For the Brown Butter Espresso Martini
- Shake: Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake hard for 15–20 seconds until frothy.
- Strain: Fine strain into a chilled coupe or martini glass.
- Garnish: Float 3 espresso beans
