Ingredients
Danish:
- 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
- Fig jam
Cream Cheese Filling:
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- 4 tbsp granulated white sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 egg yolk
Egg Wash:
- Egg whites from the 1 egg, whisked
Vanilla Drizzle:
- 1 cup confectioners sugar
- 2 tbsp milk
- ½ tsp vanilla
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- On a lightly floured surface, lightly roll out the puff pastry sheets. Cut each sheet into 4 squares.
- In a bowl, use a hand mixer to whisk together the cream cheese, lemon juice, sugar, vanilla, and egg yolk until smooth and creamy.
- Brush the edges of each pastry square with egg wash. Fold each corner inward slightly, leaving space in the center for the filling.
- Transfer pastries to the prepared baking sheet and brush the tops with egg wash.
- Add a heaping tablespoon of cream cheese filling to the center of each danish. Create a small divot in the middle and add a dollop of fig jam.
- Bake for 18–22 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.
- Whisk together confectioners sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over the warm danishes and serve.
