Fig & Cream Cheese Danish

Ingredients

Danish:

  • 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
  • Fig jam

Cream Cheese Filling:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 4 tbsp granulated white sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 egg yolk

Egg Wash:

  • Egg whites from the 1 egg, whisked

Vanilla Drizzle:

  • 1 cup confectioners sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, lightly roll out the puff pastry sheets. Cut each sheet into 4 squares.
  3. In a bowl, use a hand mixer to whisk together the cream cheese, lemon juice, sugar, vanilla, and egg yolk until smooth and creamy.
  4. Brush the edges of each pastry square with egg wash. Fold each corner inward slightly, leaving space in the center for the filling.
  5. Transfer pastries to the prepared baking sheet and brush the tops with egg wash.
  6. Add a heaping tablespoon of cream cheese filling to the center of each danish. Create a small divot in the middle and add a dollop of fig jam.
  7. Bake for 18–22 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.
  8. Whisk together confectioners sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over the warm danishes and serve.
