Asian families around the world will be celebrating Lunar New Year this weekend and we’re getting the festivities started right now! Executive chef and founder of Soy Luck Club, Eva Chin shares four of her favourite Lunar New Year dishes.

Lunar New Year cake (Nian gao)

Featuring four dishes symbolizing happiness and prosperity, this lucky dish symbolizes a “higher year” of wealth and prosperity.

Lobster noodles

Originally a Cantonese dish, Eva Chin elevates these noodles with sambal and e-fu noodles.

Chinese sticky rice in lotus leaf (Lo Mai Gai)

This dish can be made in a gigantic bamboo basket with sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaves with a whole braised chicken on top.

Smiling sesame balls

When you fry this cookie dough, it burst open and looks like a smiley face. These are eaten throughout all of China and are known as a popular Lunar snack with elders and kids loving it.
