When it comes to being a parent, one of the most difficult things is trying to feed your little ones. Author Joanna Fox created Little Critics, a cookbook filled with recipes across Canada to win over your toughest kitchen critics, aka children.  Find the recipes from chef Chuck Hughes, chef Christa Bruneau-Guenther, and chef Rogelio Herrera.

Pesto pappardelle

“This is a fun thing I like to do with my two boys on a Saturday. We make pasta in the morning, and then we all eat it together at night. Not only do they learn how to make this dish, pasta and all, but they see how simple it is too." Chuck Hughes

Pumpkin bran muffins

“What kid doesn’t love a “cupcake” with icing? I have three children of my own (now adults), and before owning a restaurant, I owned and ran a licensed daycare. Being a health-conscious mother and caregiver, I always looked for ways to make healthy dessert alternatives—and this muffin “cupcake” was an all-time favourite among all the kids. The secret is the icing—when you add food colouring and a few sprinkles, kids will devour the whole thing." Christa Bruneau-Guenther.

Carrot ginger soup

"I wanted to come up with a recipe that’s fun and healthy and that can help kids with respiratory problems—my son has asthma. Ginger and turmeric are known to help with inflammation, and carrots are excellent immune boosters, with lots of vitamins and minerals. If it helps them eat the soup, let little ones garnish it with a happy-face design—yogurt for the mouth, some parsley leaves for hair, olive oil for some freckles, and paprika for rosy cheeks. It makes me very happy to think that this soup will be enjoyed by a lot of kids. ” Rogelio Herrera
