We think these fit the definition of cute and creepy perfectly. All you need is some miniature pumpkins, black pipe cleaners and a tea light candle. You simply cut a hole in the top of the pumpkin the size of the tea light candle, pop it in and glue on the legs.
Don't be scared... these flying apparations are super easy to make! This was made with a juice can, spray paint, streamers and a sharpie.
Pierce two holes on the top of the can, then feed some fishing wire through to hang it with. Then, set up a paint area and start spraying the can white. To get the best results, you should spray from one foot away and do light coats to avoid clumping and running. The example above was three coats of paint!
Once it's dry, draw on the face and use a glue gun to attach the streamers to the inside of the bottom of the can. Hang it inside, on your front porch or even from a tree in your yard.
Oh! Didn't see you there.
This jar of floating eyeballs is creepy, and so easy to make. Just draw eyes on ping pong balls from the Dollar Store, and add them to some mason jars!
Still have spray paint from those hanging ghosts? It's time to spray paint your pumpkins white to create these awesome decorations!
For the gold polka dots, use craft glue. Lightly place the gold sequins on the glue to dry. This is definitely a more elegant and adult type of décor.
You can also make a more traditional (but still sophisticated) white pumpkin with bats. Cut a bunch of different sized bat shapes on shiny black paper, and glue them to the pumpkin. When you are cutting out the bats, fold the paper in half and trace the shape of half the bat. This will keep you from having to cut out the entire bat. Once you unfold it, you have the entire shape.
Grab some scary skulls at a craft store and turn them into scary but chic flower holders! You can use silk flowers and sparkle them up by using spray glue and glitter, or cut a hole large enough to contain a vessel that can hold water and fresh flowers.
For the shots, make a layer of orange jello and refrigerate until ready. Make another layer of yellow jello and refrigerate until ready. Top with some whipping cream and yellow and orange sprinkles and you have yourself a beautiful and tasty treat that looks like candy corn! Add some vodka for adults, or you can make a non-alcoholic batch for the kiddies.
For the monster cups, glue on googly eyes in the center, about two inches below the lip. Cut pipe cleaners into smaller pieces and fold/bend to create a mouth and eyebrows. Glue eyebrows above the googly eyes and glue mouth below the eyes. Let cool, about five minutes.
When ready to serve, add two scoops of vanilla frozen custard to each cup. Top with grape soda and serve immediately! For a fun twist, use green soda to make Frankenstein Floats or orange soda to make Jack O' Lantern floats.
A hollowed out pumpkin becomes an organic punch bowl! Plus, it's one less dish to wash during that truly scary post-party clean-up.
You can make a pumpkin cider by using some apple cider, then adding in some cinnamon sticks and pineapple chunks. You want to carve out the pumpkin the same day that you’re going to use it so that you can keep some of the remnants to add some pumpkin flavour to the cider. It’s really delicious on a cool, fall night!
Here's a creative way to display a snack for when your guests arrive! It's so gross-looking... and also so great at the same time. Use guacamole, salsa, Hummus, whatever dip you crave.
Use English muffins for this fun little appetizer! Place them on a baking sheet, spread pizza sauce on each muffin half, pull apart some string cheese and criss-cross the pieces to create a wrapped mummy look. Cut olives for eyes, noses, and mouths as desired. Bake at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for 12 minutes, for a crisp crust and bubbly cheese. Bake for less time to keep the cheese if you don’t want the cheese to brown.
Make any kind of pasta with red sauce (try spaghetti - it looks most like brains). Make your favourite meatballs or meatless meatballs, add a dash of spreadable cheese and put an olive slice on it to make them look like eyeballs. Mmmm, eyeballs and brains. The perfect main course to any spooky dinner.
Aren't these little ghosts so cute for dessert? They are simply tangerines with little pieces of celery on top to make them look like pumpkins, and bananas, cut in half with chocolate chips as eyes and a mouth to look like ghosts.
It's time for some games!
For the pumpkin golf, make sure that when you carve the pumpkin that the mouths are huge and as low as possible so that the golf balls can get in and so that you can put your hand in to get them out. You could get a couple of different sized pumpkins, with different sized mouths and make each pumpkin worth points, or candy. And here’s another fun twist…add a flameless candle with some kind of adhesive to the top and do some night golf!
For the witch hat ring toss, set up a ring toss with witch hats as cones. If you don’t have toy rings at home you can DIY your own rings by cutting the center out of paper plates.
