COSTUME 1: FRENCH KISS

This costume is, of course, a nod to the rock band KISS. Make it punny by turning it into a “French KISS” by adding a few simple elements.

What you'll need:

  • Black-and-white striped top and black bottoms
  • Black footwear
  • Beret
  • Baguette
  • Black and white face paint
  • Red lipstick

How-to:

Put on your black-and-white striped top, and pair with black leggings or jeans. Complete the outfit with black footwear. Add a beret and a baguette!

For the makeup, use black and white face paint to create the KISS makeup design of your choice. Finish with a classic red lip. Et voilà!

COSTUME 2: CARD-E BEE

Create some “buzz” amongst family and friends with this Cardi B-inspired costume.

What you'll need:

  • Black-and-yellow striped top and black bottoms
  • Black footwear
  • Blingy earrings
  • Deck of cards
  • Headband
  • Two Styrofoam balls
  • Black and yellow pipe cleaners
  • Wire
  • Black paint
  • Glue gun

How-to:

To create the “E”, glue approximately ten sets of cards together and then tape or glue to your shirt. Tip: I cut one of the sets in half to create the middle section of the “E”. For the headpiece, wrap black and yellow pipe cleaners around a headband, and glue the edges onto the inside. Next, wrap enough wire together to create two study antennas and attach to headband. Wrap the antennas in pipe cleaners, including the base that’s attached to the headband, to hide the wire completely.

Lastly, paint two Styrofoam balls black and then attach to the top of your wire antennas. Pop on your black-and-yellow striped top, black pants and footwear, and you’re out the door.

COSTUME 3: INSTA-GRAM

This costume quite literally takes the “GRAM” out of Instagram.

What you'll need:

  • Knit top, cardigan and long skirt
  • Comfy shoes like slippers
  • Grey wig
  • Glasses
  • Pearls
  • Instagram logo
  • Cardstock paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue gun

How-to:

Print an Instagram logo on heavy printer paper and cut it out. Put on your knit top, cardigan, long skirt and comfy shoes. Add glasses and pearls.

Pop on your grey wig. Tip: If you don’t have a wig, try grey hair paint, dry shampoo (you’d have to use a lot!), or cornstarch with a little hairspray to lock it in). Lastly, tape the logo to your shirt.

COSTUME 4: SPACE JAM

Space Jam the sequel did not disappoint, and a Space Jam-inspired costume like this won’t either!

What you'll need:

  • Black top (if space-inspired or sparkly, even better!) and black bottoms
  • Solar system model
  • Face gems
  • Headband
  • Wire
  • Black ribbon
  • Battery-operated string lights
  • Wand or stick
  • Jam jar image
  • Cardstock paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue gun

How-to:

For the headpiece, wrap wire around the headband so you can attach your solar system. Next, wrap black ribbon around the headband base to hide the wire, followed by a string of small battery-operated lights.

For the “Jam” in Space Jam – print two copies of your jam jar on heavy printer paper and glue together at the tip of your wand or stick. Add face gems to cheekbones and forehead,  slip into your outfit and you’re set!

COSTUME 5: INTERNET EXPLORER

Indiana Jones explores ancient cities, while the Internet Explorer searches the depths of the internet!

What you'll need:

  • Button-up top, khaki pants and bomber jacket
  • Brimmed hat
  • Hiking boots
  • Binoculars
  • Computer related items like a modem, Ethernet cable, etc.
  • Internet Explorer logo
  • Cardstock paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue gun

How-to:

Print an Internet Explorer logo on heavy printer paper and cut. Add a string so you can wear around your neck. Put on your button-up, pants, bomber jacket, hiking boots and hat. Finally, accessorize with your binoculars, modem and cable and let the adventures begin!
