A scary version of this delicious calamari appetizer.

Ingredients
Hoisin Mayonnaise
1 tablespoon mayonnaise
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
Calamari
1 pound cleaned squid, sliced into thin rings and tentacles
1 cup buttermilk
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
3 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon cayenne
1 teaspoon fresh black pepper
1 teaspoon chili powder
Vegetable oil, for frying
Serve
2 tablespoons chili crisp
Directions
Hoisin Mayonnaise
Mix together hoisin sauce and mayonnaise until well combined.
Set aside to serve.
Calamari
Place the calamari in a bowl with the buttermilk and half the salt and stir Then refrigerate for three to four hours but preferably overnight.
Preheat a fryer to 360° F.
Add the flour, spices and salt, pepper and to a large bowl and stir together.
Remove the squid from the buttermilk and dredge in the flour until all the squid is coated well.
Fry the squid in batches for two to three minutes at a time so it is crisp and hot.
Remove and drain the fried squid on paper towels.
Serve
Toss with chili crisp and serve with hoisin mayonnaise.
