Chickpea flour waffles

Chickpea flour is higher in fiber and protein than typical flour. These waffles are a delicious way to introduce beans to your family. You can find chickpea flour at grocery stores or bulk food stores. 



  • 1 1/2 cups chickpea flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups milk or plant-based beverage
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract


  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the chickpea flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. Stir in milk or plant-based beverage. Whisk in eggs and vanilla until smooth.
  3. Let the batter rest for five minutes.
  4. Preheat the waffle maker and spray with non-stick cooking spray. Pour one-third cup to half a cup of batter, depending on the size of your waffle maker.
  5. Cook waffles to desired doneness and top with fresh fruit/berries. Enjoy!
