Red Hot Sauce

Making your own homemade Hot Sauce will change your life! This one from Vijaya Selvaraju is fresh, spicy, and tangy, and you can modify the quantities of ingredients to suit your tastes.

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 6 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 1/2 small yellow onion, roughly chopped
  • 5 long red chilis (fresno, anaheim, cayenne, etc.), coarsely choppe
  • 3 Thai bird’s eyes chilis
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • Kosher salt to taste

Directions

  1. Place a saucepan on medium heat and add the olive oil, garlic, onion, long red chilis, and Thai bird’s eye chilis. Cook for seven to eight minutes, stirring often until the vegetables have softened. Transfer to a plate, and calm.
  2. Place the cooled chilli mixture in a blender with the white vinegar, and season with kosher salt to taste. Blend until smooth.
  3. Transfer to a jar, cover, and store in the fridge. Enjoy!
