Shiela Labao whips up this Filipino dessert roll to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Ingredients

Filling

  • 6 egg yolks
  • 1 can condensed milk
  • 1 lemon, zested
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Meringue

  • 10 egg whites
  • 3/4 cup white sugar

Serve

  • Powdered sugar for garnish

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350° F. 

Filling 

  1. Combine the yolks, condensed milk, vanilla extract, zest, and one teaspoon of salt. Cook until it thickens while stirring consistently. Set aside to cool. 

Meringue 

  1. Using the mixer, create the meringue by whipping up the egg whites until frothy. Start adding the sugar. Whip up the meringue until it's shiny with stiff but curved peaks. 

Bake and Serve 

  1. Transfer the meringue to a parchment paper-lined baking sheet - ensuring the meringue is spread evenly. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. 
  2. Let the meringue cool before flipping over and spreading the filling. Roll carefully. 
  3. Serve and enjoy!
