Brown butter maple donuts
Ingredients
DONUTS
- 1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons butter, browned
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2/3 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cup flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
ICING
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- Freshly chopped pecans, for garnish
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
- Allow the brown butter to cool slightly, then whisk in the sugar very well.
- Add the eggs one at a time, followed by the maple syrup, milk, sour cream, and vanilla. Whisk very well to incorporate.
- In a separate bowl, combine all of the dry ingredients and whisk well to combine.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet and mix well just to combine.
- Divide the donut batter evenly into pre-greased donut moulds and bake for 10-11 minutes.
- Remove and allow to cool slightly before dipping in icing.
- Dip each donut in icing and top with some chopped pecans!
