Brown butter maple donuts
1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons butter, browned
2/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup milk
2/3 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
1 tablespoon maple syrup
Freshly chopped pecans, for garnish
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Allow the brown butter to cool slightly, then whisk in the sugar very well.
Add the eggs one at a time, followed by the maple syrup, milk, sour cream, and vanilla. Whisk very well to incorporate.
In a separate bowl, combine all of the dry ingredients and whisk well to combine.
Add the dry ingredients to the wet and mix well just to combine.
Divide the donut batter evenly into pre-greased donut moulds and bake for 10-11 minutes.
Remove and allow to cool slightly before dipping in icing.
Dip each donut in icing and top with some chopped pecans!
