1. To make the cones, starting with one corner, roll the paper toward the opposite corner. Then hold it upright by the bottom corner, use your other hand to gently open the top of the cone and simultaneously.
2. At this point you can secure it tape and/or twine. If you don’t have a specific cone holder you can place the cones in a wine glass or mason jar.
1. This is all about layering ingredient on ingredient so as you make your way through the cone you uncover surprising delicious bites.
2. Drop a tablespoon or two of nuts in the bottom, this helps fill in the narrow portion of the cone.
3. Then start adding the heartier components like the meats cheeses and breads. The breadsticks and long rectangular crackers provide height. Cubing the cheese and alternating it with salami on skewers or toothpicks makes it easy for guests to take out and enjoy. Or alternate grape tomatoes, bocconcini and basil for a caprese skewer.
4. Just like a regular charcuterie board, fill in the empty spaces with more nuts, individual berries and always finish with a garnish - a sprig of rosemary or thyme, or a fresh flower.
