Smoky-holly jolly pecans and almonds

These delicious smoky spiced nuts are the hit at every holiday party, it’s almost impossible to enjoy just a few.

Ingredients
- 2 tablespoon egg whites, whisked
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 tablespoon Lapsang Souchong Tea (ground with spice grinder)
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon Smoky Maple Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon mace
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 cup slivered almonds
- 1 cup pecan halves
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Add egg whites to a small bowl and whisk with water. Add remaining ingredients (except for nuts), let sit in bowl for 15 minutes. Add nuts and mix to coat.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, add the nuts, and spread out over the sheet.
- Transfer to the oven and bake for 40 minutes or until crisp and golden in colour. Let cool, serve as is, or as a complement on a cheese board.
Tip: Dip nuts in melted chocolate as a smoked-chocolate option.
