How to refresh leftovers with Mary Berg

Give leftovers new life!

Leftovers can seem uninspiring, but Mary Berg gives them new life by giving us a few tips and tricks on the best way to reheat, refresh and saving our leftovers. From day-old pizza to bringing stale baguette back to life, check out these four tips that will save you some time and money in the kitchen.

Reheating Pizza

Heat. pizza over medium heat in a non-stick skillet for three to four minutes until warmed through. Add a few tablespoons of water to the pan and cover until the water evaporates, about 2 minutes. Serve and enjoy!

Refreshing Pasta

Place pasta in a large heat-proof bowl and cover with boiling water. Let stand for one minute before draining. Transfer to a bowl and toss with sauce, olive oil, lemon zest and juice or butter, with parmesan and any fresh herbs you desire. Season with salt and pepper and enjoy!

Reheating Proteins 

Place protein of choice in a skillet submerged about halfway in gravy. Rewarm over medium-low heat until heated through. 

Saving Stale Baguette 

Preheat oven at 400°F. Submerge or rinse baguette quickly in water and place in oven for 10 minutes. Let stand for two minutes before cutting to serve.
