Slow Cooker Sausage, Apple & Sage Stuffing Ingredients
- 450g pork sausage meat
- 1 large onion, diced
- 2 celery stalks, diced
- 2 sweet cooking apples, such as Gala or Braeburn, cored and diced
- 10 cups stale bread cubes
- 2 tbsp fresh sage, finely chopped
- 500ml chicken or turkey stock
- 55g butter, melted
- Salt and black pepper
Directions
- Heat a large frying pan over medium heat. Add the sausage meat and cook, breaking it up as it browns. (If using sausages links remove from the casing)
- Add the onion and celery, season well with salt and cook for approximately 5 minutes, until softened.
- Add the diced apples and sage. Season with salt and black pepper and cook for a further 2 minutes.
- Lightly grease the slow cooker insert. Add the bread cubes and sausage mixture and gently toss to combine.
- Pour over the melted butter and stock, stirring gently until the bread is evenly moistened. Do not overmix.
- Cover and cook on low for 4 hours. Stir once halfway through cooking if needed.
