Sticky kettle corn popcorn

Sweet and spicy come together for this addicting snack.

Ingredients

Yellow Spicy Popcorn

  • 1/3 cup popcorn
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon yellow food colouring gel
  • 1/4 teaspoon chipotle powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup spicy corn nuts

Red Sweet Popcorn

  • 1/3 cup popcorn
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red food colouring gel
  • 2/3 cup mini red M&M’s
  • 1/2 cup red gummies
  • 2 tablespoons red sugar

Directions

Yellow spicy popcorn

  1. In a pot, add the popcorn and the oil to cover. 
  2. Sprinkle on the sugar, followed by the yellow food colouring gel. Stir well to combine. Add the lid, then heat on medium-high. When the kernels start to pop, shake the pot while holding the lid closed. Continue cooking until all kernels have popped, then remove from the heat. 
  3. Transfer the popped and coloured popcorn to a large mixing bowl. Add the chipotle powder, salt, and corn nuts. Mix well, then set aside. 

Red sweet popcorn

  1. In a pot, add the popcorn and the oil to cover.
  2. Sprinkle on the sugar, followed by the red food colouring gel. Stir well to combine. Add the lid, then heat on medium-high. When the kernels start to pop, shake the pot while holding the lid closed.  Continue cooking until all kernels have popped, then remove from the heat.
  3. Transfer the popped and coloured popcorn to a large mixing bowl. Add the M&M’s, gummies, and red sugar.

Serve 

  1. In a large bowl, evenly add the yellow and red popcorn mixtures to create a fun mix of spicy and sweet treats. Enjoy!
