Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 5 whole cloves
- 1/2 orange
- 2 cups apple cider
- 1 cup spiced rum
- 1/2 cup Calvados or apple brandy
- Freshly grated nutmeg
Directions
- Add the butter and cloves to a medium saucepan. Using a vegetable peeler, remove large strips of the orange peel and add to the pot. Place over low heat to melt.
- When the butter is melted and begins to foam up a bit, add the apple juice and squeeze in the orange juice. Heat until steamy.
- Add in the rum and brandy, bring to a low simmer, then remove from the heat, stir well, and ladle into small mugs.
- Serve topped with a grating from fresh nutmeg. Enjoy!
TIP: You can prepare this recipe up to an hour in advance and keep it warm over low heat or in a slow cooker. If making over 15 minutes in advance, I do suggest removing the cloves as they tend to become overpowering the longer they steep.
