The classic Irish coffee with a nutty twist

Irish Coffee was invented by Chef Joe Sheridan in Ireland and made famous in America by the Buena Vista Cafe in San Francisco. Using traditional brown sugar, coffee, Irish whiskey, and heavy cream, this is a modern classic.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz whiskey
  • 0.5 oz Disaronno
  • 0.25 oz espresso syrup
  • 3 oz hot coffee
  • Coconut whipped cream, for topping
  • Shaved nutmeg, to garnish

Directions

  1. In a heat-proof mug, pour in all the ingredients but the coconut whipped cream.
  2. Use a bar spoon to give it a quick stir to mix in all the flavours.
  3. Top with coconut whipped cream.
  4. Shave nutmeg on top for garnish. Enjoy!

TIP: Toast two tablespoons of coconut flakes in a pan on medium until fragrant, pour a bottle of Busker’s Whiskey into a non-reactive container, and add in toasted coconut flakes. Let infuse overnight and strain out solids to use.
