Toasted baguettes topped with basil honey butter and sautéed radishes

Herbs from the basil and chives complement the flavor of the radishes, while the fat from the butter balances the earthy, spicy flavour you get. Salted butter works best to balance out the sweetness as well. The brown sugar caramelizes the radishes and makes them a little sweeter.

  • 1.5 tablespoon avocado oil (or any neutral oil)
  • 1 cup sliced radishes
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon light brown sugar
  • Sliced baguettes, toasted
  • 1 stick of salted butter, room temperature
  • 1 bunch fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • Chopped chives, for topping

  1. Add avocado oil to a pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Toss radishes with sea salt and brown sugar in a small bowl, then transfer to the pan and saute for five to seven minutes, until golden brown.
  3. Using a food processor or a bowl and spatula, cream the salted butter with basil and honey until smooth or whipped.
  4. Spread the basil honey butter on the toasted baguettes and top with cooked radishes. Garnish with chives and serve. Enjoy!
