Funnel cake intestines

This is traditional fairground funnel cake…but…gutsy!

Ingredients
Funnel Cakes
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon red food colouring
- 2 to 3 drops green food coloring
- 2 cups vegetable oil for frying
Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2-3 tablespoons milk
- 1-2 drops red food coloring gel
Directions
Funnel Cakes
- In a large bowl, beat eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, and food colouring until incorporated and set aside.
- Sift flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg together, add to the egg mixture, and beat until smooth.
- Transfer some batter into a large squeeze bottle and heat oil to 375 degrees F on a candy thermometer.
- Once oil reaches temperature, squeeze batter into hot oil in circular motions. Fry for about one to two minutes per side. Drain on a paper towel while you make the glaze.
Glaze and Serve
- In a small bowl, whisk together the glaze ingredients until smooth. Drizzle over or dip your funnel cakes in and serve. Enjoy!
