Barcelona hot chocolate

A sweet way to end a cold winter day. 



  • 2/3 cup boiling water
  • 57 grams good-quality dark or bittersweet (60 to 70 percent cocoa) chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1 1/3 cups Natrel lactose-free dairy product 2%
  • 1 cup brewed espresso or strong coffee
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 5 centimeter piece orange rind strip
  • 1/4 cup Natrel Lactose Free Whipped Cream


  1. Combine 2/3 cup boiling water and chopped chocolate in a medium saucepan, stirring until chocolate melts.
  2. Add Natrel Lactose-Free and next four ingredients (through rind); cook over medium-low heat, stirring with a whisk.
  3. Heat five minutes or until tiny bubbles form around edge of pan, stirring frequently (do not boil).
  4. Discard rind.
  5. Pour one cup mixture into each of four mugs.
  6. Spoon one tablespoon whipped topping over each serving.
  7. Dust with cocoa powder, if desired.
