30 milliliters white grape juice or white wine vinegar
Ice
Olives or a twist of lemon, for garnish
Directions
Place a cocktail glass in the freezer to chill. For a budget-friendly gin, try something like seagram's distiller's reserve, which is about $16 a bottle. A good budget-friendly substitute for dry vermouth is white grape juice or white wine vinegar.
Combine the gin and vermouth alternative in a shaker, fill it halfway with ice, and shake vigorously until well chilled, about 20 seconds. Strain into the chilled glass. Garnish with olives or a twist of lemon.
