Grandma's soda bread


  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt


  1. Mix dry ingredients together and in a separate bowl, mix wet ingredients.
  2. Pour wet into dry and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Put onto a board and with more all purpose flour, knead until the dough is springy and not super wet.
  4. Cut a six millimeter cross in the top of the ball of dough and put into a preheated 425 degree oven for 30 minutes.
  5. Best served immediately!
