Xe’ek salad

Ensalada Xe’ec is a staple in the Yucatan region and is also sometimes made as salsa. It’s the perfect fresh pairing to any dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 jicama
  • 2 oranges
  • 3 clementines
  • 200 g watermelon
  • 1 grapefruit
  • 10 leaves fresh cilantro
  • 1 lime
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup grapefruit juice
  • 1 pinch of chile piquin or Tajin powder

Directions

  1. Peel the Jicama and cut it into small cubes. 
  2. Peel the fruit and cut it into small triangles the citruses and watermelons in small cubes. 
  3. Place all fruit, including grapefruit, oranges, tangerines, and watermelon into a bowl, add juices and juiced lime, and mix. 
  4. Season with salt and chile piquin or Tajin powder. 
  5. Finish with chopped cilantro. 
  6. Serve and enjoy!
