Salted rum hot chocolate

Add salt to your liking then serve up a mug of pure boozy bliss.

Ingredients

  • 90 grams/3 oz good-quality dark chocolate
  • 1/3 cup salted butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup spiced rum
  • 1 cup whipping cream

Directions

  1. Bring a few inches of water to a boil in a pot. Place a glass bowl, being sure the bowl does not touch the water, over top.
  2. Put chocolate into the bowl and allow it to melt.
  3. Add the butter to the melted chocolate and melt it in.
  4. Add the sugar and salt stirring well to incorporate and lose the "grainy" texture.
  5. Bring one and a half cups of water to a boil in another pot, remove from heat, and allow to cool for a minute.
  6. When no longer ferociously bubbling, pour the rum into the water.
  7. Pour in the warm, melted chocolate mixture and stir to combine.
  8. Pour in milk and stir.
  9. Serve immediately or keep over a very low flame so guests can serve themselves. Enjoy!
