Stout espresso martini

Here we riff on the classic Espresso Martini, using dark stout beer that naturally has flavours of coffee and chocolate. The stout, which is an acquired taste for many, really adds a new and appealing dimension to this delicious cocktail so even if you typically haven’t been a big fan of dark beers, don’t shy away from this one.

SERVES
1

Ingredients

  • 1 oz coffee flavoured liqueur
  • 1 oz cold espresso , cold brew or strongly brewed coffee
  • 1 cup stout
  • Few dashes coffee/chocolate bitters, optional
  • Coffee beans or chocolate shavings/powder for garnish, optional

Directions

  1. Into a shaker filled with ice, pour the cold espresso, optional bitters and coffee liqueur. Shake to chill, about 10 or 15 seconds. Pour into a chilled martini coup. Carefully and slowly pour in the stout, which will leave a nice frothy head on top. Garnish with a few coffee beans or dark chocolate shavings.
